Modules include: Marine biotechnology; molecular and medical laboratory techniques; techniques of molecular biology and biotechnology; systems biology; plant biotechnology; environmental biotechnology and medical biotechnology; topics covered include: agrobacterium ti plasmid based plant transformation vectors and the development of transgenic crops; the use and interpretation of microarrays and proteome systems; the development of transgenic fish and the diagnosis of fish diseases using molecular markers; bioremediation, biomining and the use of bacteria to degrade novel organic pollutants; stem cell technologies and the diagnosis of genetic disease using single nucleotide polymorphisms.
