There are 2 modules: postgraduate research methods; case studies in applied social research; semester 1: Postgraduate research methods: this is a critical introduction and 'users' guide' to the key methodologies used in social research and it provides the opportunity for each student to begin to develop a specialism in 1 area; semester 2: case studies in applied social research: this is a module driven by practical case studies in examples of applied social research. It also explores how and why we should use case studies: what they can tell us and what they cannot. Assessment methods. The course combines active student learning through individual assignments and presentations with taught sessions which include discussions and group work.

Main campuses are located in Cambridge and Chelmsford, both within an hour from Central London by train. Cambridge is only an hour from London, by train, and can be reached via the M11.
