As a student at Birkbeck, you won't just be able to take advantage of all of the world-famous attractions which come with our central London location. You'll also find a range of social and leisure opportunities on campus for times when you are not in the lecture theatre, laboratory or library. These facilities include the University of London Union (ULU), the hub for social activities on campus. Facilities at ULU include bars and cafes, sports facilities, clubs and societies, a live music venue, shops and much more.

Accommodation

Student accommodation is available in University of London Halls of Residence, private halls of residence or private rented houses and apartments. There is a wealth of good quality accommodation available, at different prices. The International Office at Birkbeck is able to provide you with assistance to help you find the right accommodation for you.

Career services

Due to Birkbeck’s unique evening teaching, many students find job opportunities by networking with the other students in their classes, many of whom will be working professionals in London.

The University of London Careers Service also provides a comprehensive service to graduates of Birkbeck, including organising graduate jobs fairs, help with writing CVs/resumes, one-to-one advice on finding work after graduation and advertising graduate job opportunities.

With the majority of lectures taking place in the evening, many students choose to undertake part-time work or internships during the day when they are not studying. The University of London Careers Service provides a part-time work database to help you find part-time work opportunities in London and academic departments can provide assistance when looking for internship opportunities.

Location

Study in the heart of central London. Birkbeck is located in Bloomsbury, the traditional academic centre of London. World-class research resources, such as the British Library and the British Museum, are within a short walk of Birkbeck. London’s many attractions, including the West End, European’s longest shopping street and the lively bars and restaurants of Soho, are all within walking distance of Birkbeck.


Birkbeck is also located close to many major London Underground Stations, bus links and rail and airport transport hubs.
