The Pre-Masters programme (PMP) at the University of Sheffield International College offers a path to postgraduate study for international students.
This course is an intensive two or three-term programme of academic subjects, study skills and English language preparation. It has been designed specifically to prepare you for taught masters study at the University. If you do not meet the entry requirements for a masters degree, or want to refresh your language skills and knowledge, our specialist programme is for you.
Once you successfully complete your pre-masters at the required level, you are guaranteed entry to a relevant taught postgraduate degree programme.
Study structure
You can choose one of two pre-masters routes:
- Business, Law and Social Sciences: This will prepare you for a taught postgraduate degree in the Faculty of Social Sciences, including the School of Law or the Management School and a small number of programmes in other Faculties.
- Science and Engineering: This will prepare you for a taught postgraduate degree in the Faculty of Engineering or Faculty of Science and a small number of programmes in other Faculties.
Course length
Three terms: September to June or January to August
Two terms: January to June or April to August
Entry dates
Three terms: 10 September 2016 and 4 January 2017
Two terms: 4 January 2017 and 3 April 2017

There is a choice of five pathways, each relevant to a selection of the progression degrees available.
Modules common to all pathways:

· Business, Law and Social Sciences (BLSS)
· Critical Reading
· English Skills for University Study 2, 3 and 4 (ESUS)
· Designing a Research Project
· Business, Law and Social Sciences Personal Development Programme (PDP)

Location
Sheffield is located in the centre of the UK in Yorkshire. It has excellent transport links to all major cities and airports - only two hours by train from London. Manchester is the nearest international airport.
