This vocational course enables students to develop the knowledge and skills in the practices required to play a full and rewarding part in the management and conservation of our natural heritage; this course provides students with an understanding of the countryside and the pressure that our flora and fauna are facing; they are introduced to concepts of biodiversity which provides the skills to manage the environment in a sustainable way; the tree management minor aims to produce graduates who: can demonstrate an overall perspective of the arboriculture industries and related fields in respect of their technologies and applied techniques; develop a good knowledge and critical understanding of the well-established principles of horticulture and arboriculture, including an understanding of advanced aspect(s) of tree biology, ecology and the management of silvicultural resources generally.
