The most advanced research degree offered by the Department is the Integrated PhD programme. Students who already hold or expect to obtain an MSc in Economics can apply directly for a PhD in Economics, whose standard length is four years.
The Integrated Phd is an innovative programme within an active and stimulating research environment that will provide you with a thorough training in economics for researchers, with a structured pathway to undertaking your doctoral research. In your first year you will undertake a comprehensive graduate training programme to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge for research in economics.
Students will be encouraged to actively participate in seminars and workshops organised by the Department of Economics, and will have the opportunity to play an active role in the Department research activities.
We also offer a less advanced programme i.e. the MPhil programme, whose standard length is two years.
The Department's research faculty is very large in size with more than 50 academic staff involved in supervision, many of whom are leading researchers in their area. We also provide a comprehensive postgraduate taught programme at PhD and advanced MSc level.
