This course is designed for experienced or newly qualified engineers in naval architecture, marine engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering or other related disciplines; its main objectives are: to produce high-calibre graduates with in-depth knowledge in offshore floating systems capable of making significant contributions to the offshore oil and gas industry; provide an opportunity for graduate engineers of related disciplines to acquire advanced knowledge in offshore floating systems; provide students with practical knowledge of offshore floating systems, their conceptions, design and installation, with a sound basis of mathematical and engineering fundamentals.Modules Compulsory classes: Inspection and survey maritime safety and risk design and construction of floating production, storage and offloading vessels; risers and mooring lines; dynamics of offshore installations; structural analysis ofmarine platforms; offshore engineering practice; elective classes: modelling and optimisation in design; advanced marine structures; postgraduate diploma students who perform well in the taught classes may be considered for transfer to the Master's course.
