The course focuses on the evolutionary significance of animal behaviour and the importance of evolutionary ecology to understanding biodiversity; it is particularly focused on wild populations of mammals, birds and insects; the course is designed to integrate an understanding of the diversity of animal behaviours and traits with advances in genetics, physiology, and development; students are exposed to cutting-edge research on how genes and the environment interact to shape patterns of mate choice, feeding, habitat use and the structure of animal societies.
