The International Foundation Diploma is a pre-degree programme for international students whose first language is not English. The IFP provides students with the opportunity to improve their English Language ability while also developing the academic study skills required for undergraduate study in the UK. Successful completion provides access to many University of Greenwich undergraduate degree programmes.
The International Foundation Programme is taught at the beautiful Maritime Greenwich campus which is a World Heritage Site on the banks of the River Thames. As a bustling student friendly town, Greenwich offers a lively student friendly atmosphere that allows students to really feel like they are part of the local community. From its social scene and its famous market, to a stroll through Greenwich Park and visits to the Royal Observatory and the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich also offers a great base to explore with central London just seven minutes by rail.
On successful completion of International Foundation Programme you can start a degree programme in Schools of Business, Computing & Mathematics or Humanities at the University of Greenwich.
All courses develop students learning skills - especially writing, reading, listening, note taking, group work, speaking and presenting. Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, use of the virtual learning environment (VLE) and other e-learning technologies and practical computing classes, along with individual and group tutorials.
The university’s campuses in south east London and Kent all offer modern, hi-tech facilities within magnificent and historic settings. The largest campus is centred on the Old Royal Naval College in Royal Greenwich, at the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the banks of the River Thames and next to Greenwich Royal Park. The Avery Hill Campus in Eltham enjoys a parkland setting, and the Medway Campus features redbrick Edwardian buildings in Chatham Maritime, Kent. All sites are served by excellent rail and bus links, and an inter-campus bus service.
