This course aims to develop students’ understanding of a wide range of historical literature related to family history; armed with an awareness of what historians have said about the key issues of kinship networks, child labour, old age, the social history of marriage and the family, and the relationship between the family and wider developments in society, students undertake detailed family history research using a wide range of sources and methods which are all provided online within the course materials.
