This course embraces all facets of ceramic work: Craft and design; functional or decorative; one-off or mass production; sculptural and architectural; courses in the Department are rooted in creative thinking (innovative idea generation and making); students get to see the best of contemporary work and the most influential historical work; final year study is tailored to individual student interests and professional opportunity; all modules involve considerable practical workshop activity; some modules are studio based with access to computers and model making facilities; project briefs are used to introduce assignments; in addition there are supporting lectures, demonstrations, seminars and tutorials; there is also a regular programme of visiting professional makers, consultants and designers; application deadline: March 2010.
