The course aims to serve as realistic preparation to enter the field, offering the opportunity for the student to develop a thoughtful and individual approach to forged metalworking at a technical and professional design level; design and practical vocational skills are delivered in the first instance through student workshops to give the student the underpinning skills needed to fully explore the potential of their chosen craft; there is an expectation that the students will develop their presence within the industry via involvement with professional bodies, firms and individuals, working on realistic live briefs etc; projects on the course include large and small scale applications or commissions and the student is encouraged to explore their own motivations in the design and production of high quality forged metal artefacts allied to an in depth approach to the requirements of running a successful business.
