On this course the student investigates a broad range of practices and learns how to produce images with a specific intent and function; during the course, the student: explores and engages with the different ideas and practices that photography utilises; acquires the tools to create images with impact; develops the person behind the eye, making work that reflects both them and the world they live in; early on in the course, the student explores all the key techniques that are needed to practice successfully; they then go on, through personally developed work, to select from these in order to establish their own vision and style; professional practice is also a core element of the course and prepares the student to find employment after they graduate; visiting lecturers provide industry insight through talks and workshops, to underpin the student’s creative development and help them understand the context of their work; self-funded visits are made to major galleries and the studios of leading professionals both in Britain and abroad, and students are actively encouraged to submit work to exhibitions and national competitions hosted by industry leaders.
