The course explores the processes and theories of design and making; it looks at how the development of digital technology, culture and ethical and sustainable concerns influence contemporary craft practice; historical and critical studies focus on design within a broad social and cultural context, helping the student to develop critical and aesthetic judgment, and place their own studio work; the exploration of design and making issues and embarking on a holistic approach to cultural studies assists the student’s creation of original design ideas.

Falmouth Campus is a ten-minute walk from Falmouth Town station, five minutes by train from Penryn and 20 minutes by train from Truro (every half hour Monday - Friday.) There are eight buses an hour to Penryn at peak times. Buses depart regularly from Falmouth town centre, the train takes five minutes from Falmouth and it’s 15 minutes by train from Truro to Penryn station, which is a 20-minute walk from the campus.
