The agenda for this programme is set by research and the development of policy at national and international levels; the overall objective is to equip programme members with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to the effective and independent initiation and development of research projects in professional contexts; the content of the programme includes substantial reference to issues in research and its relationship to professional practice; study centres on the nature of educational processes, how best they can be studied and understood and the ways in which educational practices and institutions change and develop; at every stage of the study programme members are encouraged to draw on research and policy development material that relates to their particular professional contexts and interests.
