Students choose from 4 branches of nursing learning both general and specialist skills; course begins with a common foundation programme which provides the framework of basic skills and knowledge required by all nurses; students follow 1 of 4 branches: adult; child; mental health or learning disabilities; course is composed of around 50 per cent theory and 50 per cent practice; students gain practical experience through clinical placements at a variety of hospitals and community settings.
