This course enables students to combine a desire to learn the Japanese language with an exploration of the modern/contemporary culture and society of this fascinating East Asian country; the programme’s emphasis is on the study of the Japanese language and it is aimed at beginners; students with basic knowledge of Japanese may be eligible to enter the programme at Japanese 2 level, pending the result of their placement test; the programme consists of 4 modules: 3 in Japanese language; and 1 in modern Japanese society and culture.
