The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program provides students both a comprehensive understanding of business fundamentals and the opportunity to pursue chosen areas of specialization. The combined design and delivery of the BBA is innovative and unique, and equips graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete successfully for positions in industry, government, and not-for-profit, or to go on for further study.
The objectives of the honours program in Business Administration are to develop outstanding and independent achievement, to enrich the educational program in breadth and depth beyond the normal program, and to encourage a student to work to maximum potential so as to increase his/her opportunities for graduate work and for challenging positions in business, industry, and civil service.
Year 1 (Foundation): The first year of the BBA is called the Foundation. It consists of introductory level courses in a broad range of areas, including economics, statistics, communications, math, accounting, and business. This selection of courses provides students with the tools and background knowledge to progress to CORE.
Year 2 (CORE): The CORE is a rigorous, focused year of study where students are registered with a common class cohort in nine required business courses, representing the major functional disciplines. CORE provides students with a broad understanding of the financial, marketing, operational and human realities of business.
Year 3 & 4 (Interest-Driven Learning): In the third and fourth years, students complete the required portion of the program, and choose business and non-business electives according to their areas of interest. Students may choose to major in: 1) Accounting, 2) Business Technology Management, 3) Employment Relations, 4) Entrepreneurship and Innovation, 5) Finance or 6) Marketing. (Majors are also available in non-business areas: English, French, German and Spanish.)
