Discipline University of York has risen in the world ranking QS

According to the recently published global ranking of universities from QS 5 academic disciplines the University of York joined in the TOP 50 in the world. QS assesses universities by their academic reputation, success in research activities and feedback from employers about the University.

Discipline, occupied the highest positions in the world ranking:

• archaeology (17th place),
• social policy and administration (25th),
• English (27th),
• performing arts (45th)
• the Department of theatre, film and television faculty of music, history (48th).

6 educational disciplines included in the TOP 10 universities in the UK:

• social policy and administration (4th place),
• archaeology (6th),
• English (7th),
• linguistics (9th),
• performing arts (10)
• the Department of theatre, film and television faculty of music and psychology (10-e).

18 items were in the list of the TOP 20 in the UK.

Edition of the QS was estimated about 4000 universities around the world: of them were qualified 2691 945 University and higher education institutions have a rating. All were analyzed over 113 million citations of the names of universities in the press.

The rector of the University of York for research Professor Deborah Smith said: "Our University has entered the elite universities in the world for more than half of the 42 educational disciplines evaluated in the QS ranking of world universities this year. This success is a consequence of the strategic approach of transforming the University into a global leader in the world of education and it became possible thanks to the dedicated work of our teachers and students."
