Law school of the University of York and DLA Piper will become partners

Law school of York University recently launched a partnership program with international law firm DLA Piper for providing internships and mentoring to first-year students of a bachelor degree.

Now the students of the faculty have a unique opportunity to participate in International scholarship program (International Scholarship Programme) and the Programme privileged access (Privileged Access Programme).

International scholarship program provides 2 students specialized training during the holidays: first, in the British offices of DLA Piper, and then on the 2nd course, a two-week internship in the international branches of the company.

Students will be assigned to work in legal departments, as well as participate in other company activities such as pro bono (charitable provision of legal services), marketing, Finance, and risk management. Among the foreign offices of DLA Piper, where students of the 2nd year students will undergo training, including branches in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Dubai and Russia. The company will assume travel expenses and provide travel allowances for residing in the country where the internship will be organized.

The program of privileged access involves the selection of up to 8 students at the law School and enable them to use the resources and the support of DLA Piper throughout the period of training, including individual mentoring and consultations of employees of DLA Piper, as well as access to exclusive sources of information company.

Both new programs are in addition to the standard course of study for the bachelor of York law School and do not intersect with the system of planned training of students.

The Director of the school of law of York Professor Matt Matravers said: "We are very grateful to the firm of DLA Piper for their cooperation. The new program, on the one hand, opens up tremendous opportunities for our students, and, on the other hand, testify to the high position which the School of law of York is in a professional legal environment."

Students of York school of law was invited to the 2nd December 2015 at a signing ceremony for the partnership program and meet with members of the firm DLA Piper.
