University of Surrey is investing £ 4 million to the new developments in nanotechnology

One of the finest British universities - University of Surrey has announced the opening of a new center of nanotechnology products with advanced equipment, value of 4 million pounds. The facility will produce electronics for "smart" devices and manufacturing enterprises.

Council research in engineering and the physical Sciences (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) has awarded a grant in the amount of 1.6 million pounds sterling to the Institute advanced technology and Innovation Centre 5G (5G Innovation Centre) that are part of the top British University of Sussex. The purpose of the grant is to start in United Kingdom manufacturing smart materials, and electronics self-powered.

The project, worth 4.2 million pounds received the support of 32 partners and was developed in conjunction with company QinetiQ and the State laboratory of physics (National Physical Laboratory).

The University of Sussex will spend part of the funds for buy innovative printer NanoOPS developed in the North-East University. The printer will produce plastic electronic nano devices such as wearable sensors, microchips and other wireless technologies. Produced in the Center plastic electronic devices will cost up to 10 times smaller than today analogues that will give additional impetus to the development of IOT (internet-of-things) and elements of "smart" homes, cities and businesses.

The rector of the University of Sussex, Professor Max Lu, said: "Scientific activity, which contributes to the development of society and enterprises around the world — the main priority of the University Sussex. I am sure that this cooperation project between the school world-class private companies will be successful and will bring new innovation in the field of nanotechnology".

The opening of the center scheduled for the third quarter of 2018.
