University of Roehampton opens super library

Students starting education and the London University of Roehampton in 2017 was very lucky - in September the University opened a great new library! On four floors of the new building will unite the longstanding educational tradition at the University of Roehampton and future technology to meet the needs of a growing number of University students.

The new library building offers:

  • hundreds of thousands of books, thousands of shelves holding a total length of 8 km;
  • 1200 jobs including separate areas for working in groups;
  • the self-service system, which makes using the library even easier;
  • high speed Wi-Fi throughout the building;
  • a new cafe with a view of the campus;
  • a range of support services for students, including facilities for self-study, tables with adjustable height and special software on the computers.

The new library includes a range of spaces for training and teaching, from quiet corners for individual study to large group training halls. Dining Conservatory overlooking the College Digby Stuart holds 72 business places, as well as comfortable sofas for relaxation and informal communication.Thanks to modern wireless Internet, students will be able to work in any convenient library.

The library will also become a repository of book collections and special collections of the University, including the Froebel Archive, a Collection of Richmal Crompton and Collection of Anne Hutchinson-Guest.

To read the books of these collections in a special reading room. In addition, the library will host a series of events and exhibitions, which will open access to publications to all comers.
