3.03.2011. The rector of the LSE resigned

Sir Howard Davies, more than eight years head of the London school of Economics and political science, resigned. The reason for the resignation was the LSE connection with the family of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, in the present circumstances of the schism and of the armed conflict in Libya, discredits the famous British school and its commitment to democratic principles.

The school received a donation of £300000 to research from the son of Muammar Gaddafi, Saif Gaddafi, who graduated with a master degree, and defended doctoral thesis PhD at LSE in the 2008th year. The school announced the investigation in order to confirm or refute allegations of fraud PhD thesis of Saif Gaddafi, which were circulated by the British media in recent days.

Sir Davies admitted the decision to receive donations from the Gaddafi family and their trip to Libya to advise the government on the development of its financial system, personal delusion.
