A Swansea Metropolitan University student has taken a year away from his studies to gain twelve months work experience at Michael Schumacher's formula one team, Mercedes GP Petronas F1. Under normal circumstances motorsport engineering and design student Morgan Percy, originally from Canada, would be a few weeks into the final year of his degree. Instead, he has been given an opportunity to see life at the top level of motorsport, working with the Mercedes GP Petronas F1 team. Following the successful placement undertaken by Swansea Met student Owain Parry last year, Mercedes again made contact with Swansea Met to find another student from the University who would join them for a one year industrial placement. Since launching the world's first motorsport engineering degree in 1998, Swansea Met has produced many students who have forged careers with some of the top motorsport and performance engineering companies in the world. These include McLaren F1, Virgin F1, Mitsubishi Ralliart, Tech 3Yamaha Moto GP, Ford, Jaguar and Aston Martin to name but a few. Read full text
