Seven universities of the British capital entered the ranking of "times higher education" (THE) in 2010 among the top 200 universities in the world. This is significantly higher than any other city in the world. The rankings took into account such indicators as the quality of teaching, quality of research, the revenue and internationalization of education. A list of these universities is as follows: king's College London (9th place), University College London, University of London (22), king's College, University of London (77), London school of Economics and political science, University of London (86) and Royal Holloway College, University of London (88), Queen Mary College, University of London (120), the Birkbeck College, University of London (152). In comparison with last year's rating number of London universities in the ranking increased from five to seven. Closest competitors of the London – Hong Kong, Boston and new York have four universities among the top 200 universities in the world.
