Scientist-cytogenetic of the faculty of medicine of the University of Southampton, who made pioneering discoveries in human genetics has been elected to the prestigious National Academy of Sciences (National Academy of Sciences - NAS) of the United States. The work of Professor Patricia Jacobs has made a significant contribution to the study of medicine and human genetics and are the basis for modern research on this issue. Only a few foreign scientists were elected members of the NAS, and Professor Jacobs is one of three British scientists so honored this year.
