A second-year undergraduate studying International Business at the University of Greenwich will be among those carrying the Olympic Torch on Saturday 21 July.
Priya Rajgor, 20, of Mill Hill East, North London, is one of the inspirational people who has been chosen to run in the Olympic Torch Relay ahead of the London 2012 Games. She will be running 300 metres while carrying the Olympic Torch between Greenwich and Waltham Forest.
Miss Rajgor was nominated by her father, Manoj, in recognition of her fundraising and volunteering for charities including Dreams Come True, Samaritans and Noah's Ark Children's Hospice. Rajgor has already completed two marathons and hopes to attempt her third this year.
Priya says: “When I was informed that I had been shortlisted, I couldn’t believe it. I really didn’t think I would be selected because thousands of people were nominated.
“I can’t begin to explain how excited and honoured I am to be carrying the torch.”
Mr Rajgor adds: “I am so proud of all her efforts and the contributions she has made to charities and to people’s lives. This will be a chance for all the world to see her shine.”
The University of Greenwich has been named as an official host venue for the London 2012 Games.
