16.03.10. University of Exeter: lecturer in 3D

Starting this month students of engineering, mathematical and physical faculties of the University of Exeter (University of Exeter) will be able to watch some of the lectures in state of the art lecture theatre with 3D viewing feature.

Unlike movie theaters that can show 3D images, a University audience has software that allows students and local businesses to create their own 3D images.

As explained by Dr. Richard Everson: "Although it may seem a bit futuristic, 3D online is really a practical application. It will be fantastically useful in the field of medical imaging, and we intend to work with the Medical school of the Peninsula (Peninsula Medical School) more closely in this direction. It will also be a great tool for our engineers, mathematicians and scientists who use it for their research, for example, when modeling climate change, mapping of vegetation or in advanced computational fluid dynamics.
